Wives and girlfriends everywhere they have lost another womens only getaway from there men. Gone are the days when women could head down to the spa on there own for a bit of peace and quite because unfortunately for them there husbands and boyfriends will probably be joining them. According to a recent spa survey men now make up almost a third of spa goers and that figure is rising quickly. Men are not just heading to the spa for a traditionally manly sports massage they are also trying out manicures, facials, mud packs and body scrubs.

Thanks to the creation of the metrosexual man getting a spa treatment has lost much of the stigma it had even 10 years ago. While most men still might not brag in the pub about the body scrub they had at the spa the other day, they dont mind going along with there wives and girlfriends to get one.

Most men now realise that they need to look after themselves if they want to stay fit and health and looking good. Although most dont like to admit it many men do care about there appearance. Just like women men see celebrities on TV and in magazines looking good and they want to emulate that. They also see how women look at these men at want some of that sort of attention for themselves. So spa treatments have become another way to achieve this along side the nice clothes, trendy hair cuts and nice cars. They have also become an extension of a health and fitness regime that includes might include gym workouts and running.

Spas have been quick to notice this trend and are now catering to there new cliental. Most spas now have a mens treatment menu that has specifically been designed to cater to the needs and wants that men have. They have also given many of the treatments less flowery names than the female versions so as not to embarrass anyone who still may feel a bit sheepish about heading to a spa. So popular have spas become for men that male only spas are spring up across the country and are increasing in popularity rapidly.
